“Eat North, Eat South” 2 channels/8 minutes
There is a proverb in Vietnam, called "Ăn Bắc, Mặc Nam," literally ‘Eating as in the North; Clothing as in the South.' And my version of it will be "Ăn Bắc. Ăn Nam" (Eating as in the North; Eating as in the South). As I have been traveling around Vietnam from North to South countless times, I have found many interesting differences and similarities in foods of North and South, and also figured out not so many people consciously think of them. This single channel video work is like a food poetry about subtle yet delicious similarities and differences of foods. In two splitted screens, left side Hanoi and right side Saigon, I try to capture aesthetic and sizzling scenery of foods and people who are eating them. Experience foods, and Ăn Bắc. Ăn Nam.
